Come be part of a team that distributes large-print Bibles and the Spiritual Survival Guide for Prison and Beyond, and prays with newly-convicted inmates at the Northern Reception Center at Stateville Prison in Joliet, Illinois. We go approximately once a quarter, normally on a Saturday morning, and are done by 2:00pm. The larger our volunteer team, the more we can proactively offer to pray with inmates, rather than simply responding to their requests for prayer. This allows for much more conversation and prayer, and is a great blessing for volunteers and inmates alike. You can definitely feel the presence of God in this ministry! All volunteers must pass a background check by the Illinois Department of Corrections (we’ll get this for you). Basic training/apprenticing will be provided.
